We recommend a filter prior to the pump as well but our BG5000 does not create any restriction .

You would correct though in some of what we have seen guys trying to run for filters though that only have 130-140gph flow and trying to use it before a 400gph pump. Doesn't work well in those case.

I'm a old school Kinsler customer and that's what they recomened years ago. I also run mechanical fuel pumps on blown engines, which would torch it's self with any cavition.

I've raced at least 5 different motors injected on alky and have never hurt a pump or motor because of leaness, never ran a filter before the pump. 15 years running so far, no inlet filters for me.

Everyone has their preferences and I have posted this before but the best argument I can make for running a filter was an incident that occured years ago when I was working a national event.

A guy using one of our pumps had made it into the final or semi[ don't remember which now] only to have his fuel pump lock up on the line and lose. Immed after he was at our trailer fighting mad so with him and his crew standing there I pulled the end plate off only to discover a wire tie that had wrapped itself around the rotor and veins until it met itself again and locked the pump.

Come to find out even though this guy filtered his fuel they had been working in the back of the car on the electrical with the fuel cap off and somehow the tie founds its way into the cell and pump.

Something else to keep in mind that electrical pumps are a lot more sensitvie to debris then a belt driven gear pump and will wear differently.

I got the new seals today and so far so good

I lubed the seal and motor shaft with the top end lube to avoid a dry start and and so far, even on it's side, its dry as a bone.
