You'd want a pump w no more than ~5psi or so at idle when pressure is the highest as to not overpower th needle/seats as the least amt of fuel is being consumed at that point and at least several psi at the end of the strip (or street ) for no starvation/lean out. 36-38 total w vac adv disconnected if used & hose plugged (see I remembered!) and initial anywhere from ~10-20 depending on the cam/eng but the inital gets decided upon/set 1st then the slots get shortened to maintain the required total then the springs then the vac adv if used. I have an ECU you can borrow . Sorry couldn't resist

Plugs at .035 or .040. Start timing at 18 initial.

Please! but keep in mind that a 5 pin ECU requires the 4 terminal ballast setup but a 4 pin ECU can be subbed in to the oe 4 terminal ballast setup. 2nd choice-carb. 3rd choice-plug wires. You said the plugs are new right. EDIT I reread your post, MP ign kit? You'll need another 4 pin ECU even a parts house $15 4 pin one, stock or near stock cam? try 10BTDC.

so why does my oil smell like gas the only thing is i can think of is the old fuel pump leaked gas into my crank case wich is cause my engine to nock so im going to try changing the oil filter and adding some lucas is this a bad idea or should i just bite the bullet pull the engine and see whats wrong and fix it

Could be a rich condition on carb or gas getting passed piston rings. Describe this miss again, could your carb be flooding? Float levels good? If I remember correct eddie's don't take more than 5psi. on pressure. Do you have a gauge on it?

you'l get plenty of fuel in oil if carb is running very rich. If fuel presure is to high. Eddy carbs don't like much more then 6 PSI on the performence models.Look at your plugs. Are they very black? Dump the oil put fresh oil and filter fire it up. If knock is gone you should be OK but find where your fuel problem is. Floats set to high? To much jet ? idle mixture set to rich ? To much fuel presure? Stock cam start timing at 10
