Does anyone know why a 98 Intrepid (2.7L) will not start after it has run a while. My freinds mom has had this problem quite a lot here lately. She drives to the store (maybe 15 miles) and when she comes out after shopping it will not start. She has to wait for 20 mins before it will run. It is not showing any codes.

Also on the same car the heater/ac fan will only work when it is turned up on high.

Any help would help greatly.

The fan is probally the blower resistor.I replaced a lot of them. The hard start could be the relay in the fuse box.Is the check engine light on?See if it has any codes.Rocky

I'd guess cam/crank pos sensor(s).

IIRC, if its the cam pos sensor, you can keep cranking for a while and it will eventiually bypass the sensor and start in limp mode.

To make matters worse, in my case the problem was a faulty alternator that otherwise tested fine. Somehow it was frying sensors.

Even worse my cheap Actron code scanner didn't pickup codes that the odometer spit out when you do the "key dance" (off to run 3 times quick, leave it in run and codes will display).

The car will crank it just wont attempt to fire. If we wait a little while it will start though.

We have done the key code check and it shows nothing.

Check the connector under the back seat that goes to the fuel pump. Found many with corrosion from moisture.

Crank sensor.
Mine did the exact same thing
Also sounds like the blower resistor in the front passanger foot area is screwed.
