I appologize if this seem basic. This is my first car restoration and I don't have much experience in the restoration process.I picked up this '70 cuda and want to restore it. I wasn't looking for a huge project but couldn't pass up this u code for the price. When I tore out the interior I found a lot of surface rust. The car hasen't seen the road since '88 so I'm sure to find much more. What is the best way to tackle this? Wire wheel and sand paper, Media blast, rust converter, or acid dip the entire car. I'm not much of a body man, but looking to learn. Thanks in advance.

That thing looks like it was in a swamp for a little bit, yet WAY cleaner than stuff around here, I'm envious.

after seeing the pic of the clean body then the pic of the roof I thought---HUMIDITY!

It could be treated and done on the cheap, or painstakenly restored. Wonder what the trunk looks like.

I know there are so many ways to go with the restoration. I started out wanting just a simple driver, however I feel like I am moving more towards nut and bolt, if that makes sense. I don't think I'm going to make a show car, so I guess I'm looking to make it a very clean driver.

If it's going to be a 100 point resto, then media blasting would be my choice. If it's going to be a driver or budget friendly job, then I'd wire wheel it, then hit it with some rust converter followed by some epoxy primer to seal it up.

The underside and frame will need to be cleaned up and undercoated. Frames have some surface rust but they are solid. No cancer anywhere on the car that I can see exept the drivers floor pan.

I have the fender tag. I guess A/C would be the best option it has. I think I have it coded correctly.

Great car! I would have someone you trust media blast it. You may have to replace the roof but that wouldn't bother me a bit. What you don't want to do is put rust convertor or some other half hearted measure on the underside of the roof, paint the car and have problems later. Now that AMD makes such good panels it's a breeze to fix problems like that. The floor panels are available as well and are easy to weld in properly.

IMO unless you are starting with a cream puff go ahead and Media blast the car.It will save a ton of time and give you the best quality resto.Besides it's nicer working on bare clean metal. The car is worth the work.

062467 is the VON, but the order number is from the original order form, it has nothing to do with the order the car was made in.
