Call the tech line for Goodyear Racing or M/T and ask them what they think.

i tried to but my tyre man couldn't fit the slick into the balancing machine & the center section of the rim would be moving anyway so a real balance wasn't going to be achieved. at 140mph i can't tell if it feels balanced or not.

I balance mine, when first installed ! Also rebalance them when I am rotating them, about every 50 passes. It is nice when you don't have a Vibration....

I don't balance mine. There is a lot of info on this board on the subject. Some do, some don't...

I have put them on and run them with no balance and not had problems but you only have to have one be out one time to make you balance them every time after....

I think all the hoosiers I have ran on my dragster needed very little wieght, and I had a few sets of Mickeys and Goodyears that needed alot of weight.

I used to a long time ago, then we went to bead locks where we could mount the tires ourselves. Went through at least 15 sets of tires and never balanced them. No trouble what so ever, and I'm going 260 MPH. We only get 5-8 runs per set of tires. Then there dried up and no good for our hi horse powered car.

look at the back tires on some cars in the burnout box and you'll change your minds about not balancing
your slicks I've seen some that look like a basketball bouncing

I would balance them if you can, Static/balance out the heavy spot. Ever wonder why some slicks in the burn out box are smooth and some bounce like StripeHog said. I have seen unbalance slicks show cords on one side and lots of wear indicator showing on opposite side. I have also driven a buddys car were it vibrated so bad I thought it was coming apart, balanced the slicks and smooth as silk.

I balance my own on a bubble balancer. I'm running Goodyear 1984's on both cars.

I do, and generally there's a fair amount of weight needed.
I'd hate to be chasing a problem on the car - a vibration or harmonic or whatever - only to find it's something as simple as a wheel/tire imbalance. How a burnout would affect the balance of a tire, I don't understand.

I got out my tire guy to English dictionary.........roughly , it translates to " I don't feel like doing it."

I have to add .......... I've always had mine balanced and for the very reason described above.
Doing the burn out , it is steady and smooth.
I figure that it has to have the same effect down track.

I had a set that were out of balance, it would vibrate hard enough to shake my eye balls. Always bubble balance them after they get mounted.

Bob, I have a bubble balancer if you need to use it, that's how I do mine.
