I have been looking for the proper bolt to put my gas tank in and can't find one. Does anybody know of a resource for these? Does anybody have an extra one? The 68+ "J" bolt won't work. Thanks

Hey Pat, ive got to take a gas tank out of a '67 im parting in the next week or two. If you want and the bolt is usable I can send it to you if you cover shipping.

They are available, but I don't recall off hand from where. On my 66 Charger, the enterprising previous owner installed a new tank, but simply used a carridge bolt that he fashioned. It works fine, but looks like a turd.

I don't think that they are available for those cars. I couldn't find one for a 66 Coronet that I was restoring and managed to find NOS.

but is it the RIGHT one ?

the correct bolt is not currently available , i was not comfortable with using a later j bolt in a 67 i worked on .

matt if he doesn't take you up on it i'll take that bolt .

if you aren't going to use the strap in the car cut it and let me get the nut off the bolt .

Matt: If the bolt is decent i sure would take you up on the offer. Thanks, and let me know how much to 74055. I find it hard to believe that they reproduce the tank, sending unit, strap, hoses, etc. for these cars and nobody makes the bolt to put it all in with.

J Bolts are out there if you search for pretty much all years and models. But really does it matter as no one will ever see it if you improvise with something else. Unless of course you are going for a concourse restoration...

no it does matter and its not because of a correct restoration issue , its a keeping the gas tank off the ground issue

I have had three subcontractors quote me in the last month or so, using my NOS pieces as samples. Once I am satisfied with the pricing and quality, they will be reproduced.

How different are they from the 68+ ones? I have this one for $25.
