Is there such a thing as a large bolt pattern A Body FRONT brake drum? What would they have in 73 or 74?

Can a front drum brake set-up from a E Body work?

A customer wants to up-grade to Large Bolt Pattern on his A Body to accommodate his rim choice, but we were both wondering if he can retain the drum brakes all around...

I know it would be way better with front disc brakes but that's not the answer I'm looking for...Thank you...

I took off my entire assembly and sent it into strange and they re-drilled and checked balance for the larger bolt pattern. I think labor was like $75, shipping more obviously, and had them back in a week. I'm sure Moser and all the other ones can do it too.
Worked well and have had 0 problems in 6-7 years drag racing it.

A body with front drums was sbp until the end of production. You can use any '72-earlier B drum assembly or any E body drum brake/spindle assembly as long as you use '73-up A-body upper control arms since they have the big ball joints that you will need.

Did '73 up SBP front drum A bodies use large or small upper ball joints?

Large ball joints in the upper control arms for 73-76 wether it's drum or disc brake.
Just took off a pair of A arms from a drum brake 76 Dart in a wrecking yard this morning, as a matter of fact.

use B body stuff if you want BBP drums on an A body.

So on my '76 Scamp, I could retain my upper and lower control arms and then just change the spindles to get disc brakes?

Check bearing sizes. I believe the B-body spindles are larger. Maybe use spindles too, or a bushing on the A-body spindle. I'll eventually need to do the same.

I thought that the 9 inch drum brake cars still used the small upper ball joint. I had a 76 Dart with 9 inch drums and a slant sick. I tried to use my 10 inch drum assembly from my 70 Charger but the ball joint stud was the small size. I've wondered about that for years. Who knows, really. As old as these cars are, they have often had several owners and several parts swapped around.

I have been told that there are some drum/hub assemlies from some AMC vehicles with 4 1/2 inch pattern drums, that will go directly on the A body mopar spindle. It was a pacer, or Gremlin I think. Maybe someone else here knows, or you may investigate.
