Might be ok if ujoint or something else caused it. 1AARCUDA OP mopar 1 Joined: Oct 2004 Posts: 502 North Texas	This is my second housing to break or crack rather, I am thinking my driveshaft may be to long and when my rear winds up its shoving it into the rear of the trans, I have not had a chance to pull the driveshaft apart car is still on the trailer. I knew a car that did this. The pinion angle was fine,tranny mount was fine,driveshaft was fine. Springs were weak and moving the pinion angle all over during the launch,shifts,burn-outs etc...Put a new set of springs in with the 4th tail shaft and it never broke again and never got that ugly vibration again....

I forgot the difference in length, but I think it's like 1.5 - 2" between tailshafts? My driveshafts have maybe 1.5 to 2" max extra travel into the transmission from their seated position in the rear end yoke.

I'm surprised you got it to fit in there You need to find a 727 shaft you have yours cut down.

Dodgem master Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 5,746 Ontario, Canada	I broke a couple and my drive shaft was a little too short had a new one made and never a problem since. I had the first shaft made when the car had longer shackles on the back and when i went stock shackles and new springs it moved the rear end back a 1/2" or so. I used this guide then you measure slip yoke u joint center to rear end yoke u joint center. 5894004-727dimensions.JPG (783 downloads)
