This won't make it any easier but, cut up a 1 gallon washer fluid bottle [round and white type]. Then use a section/piece as a shim between the panel and the bezel where it is the tightest. You'll have to work/force/ ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hammer.gif) it in still, but it won't gouge the pad if you are carefull/patient. Good luck!

I use heavy paper tape on the pad and steering column to make sure I don't scratch them when I am literally forcing, wiggling, tweaking, the switch panel in place.

I had a friend help me, I never really saw him get frustrated before. Before this job I mean.
Get a hair dryer put it on high and blast the lower pad. This will heat it up and make it more flexible.
like mentioned above don't tear up the pad or bend up the plate.

Can't do since two of the larger pad fasteners are behind the switch plate. Pad must go in first. I struggled for two hours with mine and finally said, "close enough"
