When it rains I am getting water into my heater box in my Challenger. It just started happen in our 7 inch deluge last week. Where would it be coming from? No leak in the heater core and it's just water not anti-freeze.

Maybe the cowl has a rust hole right where the duct seals to the cowl on the inside

There is a large lip above the duct. This would have been an extremely tough area to get paint or anything else into either by the factory or anyone else. quite likely its finally rusted through. You may be able to get your hand up there if you pull the heater grill off. Otherwise you'll have to drop the heater.

Make sure the cowl drains are open and it isn't filling up and running over into your heater.

Exactly, I remove the cowel screens from time to time and use a shop vac. You can use air hose to blow out the drain holes too, I think there are 3 of them. Then I use the shop vac again to suck out whatever I moved around with the air hose.

The car has basically no rust and has been garaged since 1986. Most likely the drains are clogged since we had 70 MPH wind and the leaves were everywhere the one night I couldn't get it back in the garage.

I took about 5 minutes and just blew out everywhere I could get the hose in and so far so good. 3-6" of rain today so we'll see. So far so good.

It sucks that it has to sit in the rain, didn't the car earn the right to be sheltered by now in it's life?
