Viscosity SAE 90 or SAE 140 ?
the penzoil syncromesh doesnt say anything about viscosity on the can, only that its for chevy and chrysler transmissions, but then it says that its not for all manual transmissions.my gearbox leaks in the same places with both 90sae and syncromesh.those places are at the front next to the input bearing(where the other axle rests in the casing) and at the rear bushing/seal.

If you go with SAE 90, make sure it does not have limited slip additive added - some types of SAE 90 that I've seen say that they are ready for limited slip rear ends and already have the additive in it, and the limited slip additive can cause probelms with your synchros. Other than that, everyone seems to have their own opinion on ATF, Gear Oil, of Synchormesh Transmission fluid - I've tried them all, and all of them work, but have gone with SAE 90 because it seems to leak less and is way less expensive to refil than the Synchromesh Transmission fluid. ATF leaked like water through a siv...

Its actually the GL-5 rating (extreme pressure additives for rear ends) that you want to avoid. Its those additives that are not long term compatible with the brass synchros. You want to find a GL-4 lube. Although I imagine ANY gear lube that already has limited slip additive is also going to be a GL-5 so yea--you want to avoid it from that perspective.
Find a GL-4, Redline makes several, as does Amsoil, Pennzoil Synchromesh ect. Gl-4's in the common shelf brands, like Valvoline/Castrol etc are hard to find. For me anyway.
