Probably a newbish question but can a '69 Coronet Grille be swapped onto a 68 Coronet? I guess while I'm at it, what else can 'interchange' body-wise between a '69 and '68?

Was really looking for a '69 but I found a '68 for sale locally for a real deal that's hard to pass up, so was wondering.

The '68 & '69 grilles are shaped differently in the center. The '69 hood dips down over the grille where the '68 doesn't. There are a lot of detail differences between '68s & '69s.

I guess since you got a deal on the '68, you could possibly find or trade for a '69 front clip?

Then it would still be a '68 from the rear though.

I think it would be cool IMO

Hmm, so with a '69 Front clip the door-line will still line up and not look silly? I think that might be worth doing.

If you get the 68 Coronet and swap out the grill,...the 68 Coronet grill could be sold off to someone cloneing/repairing a 69 Charger 500,...as that grill was used to flush up the front of the car

And yes the 69 fenders will line up with the 68 doors

The 68 and 69 hoods are the same EXCEPT for a trim piece that attaches to the underside of front lip on the 69 hood.

It's this piece that dips down and matches the contour of the 69 grille instead of the straight 68 style as stated in another reply.

The trim piece is painted body color to fill the gap--so it is hard to notice..

I think all that you have to do is put the 69 Hood extension on the 68 hood and put the grille in. I believe the headlamp mounting area is the same and will accept the 69 H.lamp bezels too...

nope...the head light spacing is different between '68 and '69...the '68s are closer together.

Thanks for that info. I thought they were the same but I guess not. Rather than change fenders it would still be easy to change the headlamp mounts in the fender than find 69 fenders and weld the 68 lamp hole in them...

As for doors, 68,69,70 dodge coronet, Bee and 68,69,70 Plymouth Sat., Road Runner are all the same body lines. The only dif. is the 68 has the door lock hole at the end of the door where as the 69 and 70 are a few inches from the door edge.
If you do change your front clip, now you would have rectangle reflector sidemarkers in the front and the round side lights in the R Qtrs.
Also the trunk lid is different from 68 to 69 and I think the taillight panel is different so don't think you could put 69 tail lights in it either. I would just do a 68 coronet RT clone and keep what you have, If you ever want to sell it, would be better all 68 than a Mixed Breed.

If you wanna keep it, a hybrid would be sweet You are right on the doors as my '70 Charger has a '68 door on the driver side and a '70 on the passenger side. It does not bother me the least bit. Of course my rear valance is a '68
