Junky OP master J Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 5,186 Wherever I am.	The Jag fan clutch is a thermal clutch. Locks up so to speak and spins faster when the engine is getting pretty hot. Now, let's say the engine is pretty hot and the fan clutch has locked up and is spinning faster, not slipping, and now the engine is turning about 6,000 RPM's. Can the clutch fan take that kind of RPM without coming apart? Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 7,759 So Cal	It will slip, so high RPMs should not be a problem, Allen Here's a novel idea, let's not throw a bunch of parts at the car hoping it will fix the problem and instead spend a little time diagnosing it first. Life was a little easier when I was just a wrench.

DaytonaTurbo Too Many Posts Joined: Feb 2003 Posts: 21,318 Manitoba, Canada	Even at full tension, you still do not get a 1:1 ratio off of the clutch fan at higher rpms. The drag of pumping that air basically gets the clutch fan up to a point where it's rpm levels off and just won't go any higher or will barely go any higher. Or at least that's what I've been told. I wouldn't worry about it, I've never heard of anyone having trouble with fan clutches flying apart at high rpm.

ademon master A Joined: Sep 2004 Posts: 6,906 IL, Aurora	those replacement clutches are kind of week in my opinion, they don't seem to lock up till higher temps 195/200 and don't lock up tight.
