Both of my keyless fobs on my wife's '05 Durango have died and we now have to unlock the doors with the actual, physical key. The problem is however that unloacking the door without the keyless sets off the alarm which goes like mad until the vehicle is started.

Is there anyway to disable the alarm to allow the regular key to be used?

I wouldn't care except the wife refuses to lock the vehicle now because she's embarassed to unlock it and set off the alarm in public. And I don't have the $200+ the dealer wants for a new key.

Any help is greatly appreciated. THANKS

Just a dumb question but don't they have batteries in them?

Yes, first thing I did was change the batteries but no dice. One of them died months ago and the last one died yesterday.

I do not think that can be shut off,but if you take your key apart what usually breaks on them is the tab that goes around battery comes off of circuit board. That tab can be soldeired back on and keys should work again.
