I have a 60 over 440 block that has been o ringed. one has come out. How do I reinstall it? DO I HAVE TO BUY NEW ONES? Why is this done?

i had a block that was O ringed. i just used Mig wire that was a firm fit. just file the end square & tap it into place with the small hammer as previously suggested. when you get to the end cut it very close & file up that end too. it's a no brainer, takes a few minutes. you could try & refit the one you have if it's not bent or kinked. ask a welder for 12" of wire, he'll probably give it to you.

Measure the diameter of the wire first, try reusing it second and then use some new wire of the same size if the old won't work. I have seen many different sizes used by different shops as well as some use soft copper wire and some use stainles wire

As stated I'd probably just reinstall the original one...IF THEY WORKED BEFORE. Use the same style gasket too!!! You can use a composite gasket if the 'rings' don't intersect. Maybe run a height guage across the peaks to see how tall they are and if they're the same. I've used S.S. but, as stated measure the grove width and match the wire if replacing. I file the seam at a diagonal for a 'zero' gap effect. I've (heard) of some success by just remove the ring completely and filling the void with 'grout'. So there's some more options for you.

Anyone knows a similar and cheapier tool than that iskenderian groove-o-matic ?

I had wire on the heads and used copper gaskets on the hemi. You can reuse the copper gaskets you just have to burnish them
