Getting ready to pull my 4 speed out and install a new one, and I wanted to know if I had to remove the factory H pipe or if it could be done leaving it in place? The car is a 69 GTX. In the past I think it was removed but looking closely at it I think it is possible to do without removing the H pipe.

Thanks for any input
Scott

If you can get the trans crossmember out of the way with the exhaust connected, and the tailshaft will clear the H-pipe, you're good to go.

It may be possible, but I have usually found that when I try to take short cuts, it take longer and is a whole lot more frustrating.
