How can a person tell the difference between the indy 426-3 intake and the indy 426-4 intake? Looking at buying one but i see no real markings on the intake to identify which intake it is.

The carb mounting flange appears to be 2.5 to 3" above the runners on the -4. It is 2.25" taller than the -3. The -3 appears to have a more average carb flange height of about an inch or so.

On a flat surface to the flange the -3 is 7 inches tall. The -4 is 9.25 inches tall to the carb flange.

We measured the intake from the carb mounting flange to the table and it,s 8.25 to 8.50 does that sound right?

Indy says from end rails of block to top of carb flange of manifold 9.25" for the 426-4 and 7" for the 426-3.
