Hey Guys, I want to go with electronic ignition. But I like the way I have my pionts distributor curved. What do you think about the pertronix II kit? Or should I go with a Mopar Performance conversion kit with new distributor?
I have a 1971 360 .30 over 9.5-1 compression, J heads 1.88 valves, 68 340 cam, intake and exauhst manifolds with a 625 AFB.

Thanks Scott!

You could call Don at FBO and ask him to sell you everything except for the dist.

thats what I am running in mine

points dist with the pertronix points conversion

has worked flawless for 9-yrs now

just make sure you bypass the BR for a full 12 volts to the coil

keep the dist you have its its curved they way you like,IMO

less hassle than recurving another one to soot your neeeds.

Does bypassing the BR for the full 12 volts give you a hotter spark?

Thanks Scott!

Do you have to use a Pertronix coil or
will the oem coil take the constant 12v ?

What Scratch said, you're a perfect candidate for the Pertronix conversion and it's one of the very few items that has pretty much always gotten rave reviews here on Moparts. Yes use their Flamethrower coil. use their plastic piece to gap it/dont remove the green tape and if it throws the timing off I forget what was posted to correct that

I'd recommend you use the epoxy filled Pertronix coil as the ohm ratings/ coil turn ratio is 100:1 vs the factory 70:1

Go with the Pertronix II conversion, eliminate the ballast resistor, use a copper terminal dist. cap,...DO NOT REMOVE the green tape on the rotor magnet, always gap the Hallcell with a PLASTIC feeler gauge, no metal feelers, incl. brass,.....re-time the motor after install, as the intial installation will retard the tining up to 15 degrees,....make sure the dist (point type) used is new or rebuilt, as worn bushings/plates will lead to premature failure,.....and never leave the ignition key on for more than 30 seconds without the engine running as you may/will destroy the HallCell pickup,....if you need to trouble shoot the electrical system for periods of time without the engine running disconnect the red HallCell lead from the coil,

Bosch Platinum double or quad tip plugs fire readily with this system, using a good quality copper terminal cap, carbon tracking buildup is non-exsistant

I'd recommend the Pertronix ignition wires as well,...NO NOT RUN SOLID CORE ignition wires as this will destroy the HallCell

true about leaving the key on, I installed it on a buddys riviera and he had a problem with his ignition (you turn the key of and it sometimes would stay on) he never told me he had the problem, and yes it fried the ignition.
