3M has one at Advance. Do these or any others get rid of that frosted appearance from the plastic?

Yes - take your time and they come out clearer than knew. Don't know if they are all teh same though and I don't remember the ones that he was using the day I was out there.

3M kit worked great - I had low expectations, was pleasantly surprised at results - nice and clear.

The 3M kit worked for me--do each step a little longer than you think it needs it--will turn out great--that little tip about a dime size squirt of the final polish is a good tip --more and it will fly all over everything!

Just checked and that is what he was using too.

Clean it, if it's Dirty. Oil it, if it Squeaks. But: Don't fix it, if it Works!

Just remember, you are sanding away the (defective) protective finish, exposing bare plastic. You'll need to keep the surface waxed or it will begin to deteriorate again before too long.

I just sanded and polished the ones on my van then clear coated them with a UV resistant clear from U-POL.
CLEAR#1™: High Gloss Clear Coat - the one in the copper colored spray can. It can fog if you apply it in high humidity -don't ask me how I know.

why spend money on a kit? a worn out piece of 800-1000 grit paper and some polish with the buffer on low speed will do the same thing, cost about a quarter.

I think the kits are so that the average person won't have to remove the lens from the vehicle. I have used the 3M kit and my method works much better, but I have to remove the lens.

That's what I did last week.

Wet sanded the headlights and then polished with a powerball/mothers polish.

Skip the Mothers polish and powerball, use a quality plastic polish on a flannel 6" buff @3450rpm.

It was fast, easy, cheap and best of all sitting on the shelf about 3' from me...

Right and like most folks you can't see what your missing unless you did it the right way and compared it to the shortcut method. In my line of work I won't cut a corner and compromise the finished product, many of my competitors do and it shows.

My brother used it on his 92 daytona. His headlights and fog lights were awful and yellow looking. Took them off did the sanding/polishing with the kit and they look great. Not brand new looking but pretty close. I think a plastic non-replacable lens is the stupidest idea ever. You get an older car like his where a repro lens is not available so you're stuck with old junk.
