I hate to buy a tall msd distributor just to gut it and weld the shaft. Crank trigger with dist in stock location for use with indy heads and fab valve covers. Does anyone sell a distributor for distribution only?

Nobody sells a Mopar big block crank trigger distributor. You can buy the MSD and run it solid (no welding required) or you can find an old lean burn distributor in a wrecking yard and run it. If you have a Jesel belt drive on the motor you can also run a Jesel belt drive distributor. That is what I finally did and it really helped clean up the ignition.

I use a stock lean burn dist. they have a solid shaft. All you have to do is remove the magnetic pickups. Been using one on a S/G roadster for 9 years and it's still rock steady. You can buy one rebuilt from a autoparts store.

Another option is to lobby for someone to build an inexpensive distributor with no advance curve and no electronics. Talk to Todd Ryden at MSD or call the guys at Custom Wire Sets or Brandon at 440Source. ProComp makes a distributor so that would be another place to call or Crane or Mallory. Someone out there should be interested in building a dead simple distributor with just a shaft, rotor, housing and cap.

Yep,
Same story, simple, effective, and cheap.

FAST makes a dual synch distributor I believe for crank trigger and cam trigger.

Andy I am running a Jesel belt drive, I did not think you could run a front mount water pump with the front mount distributor. I see you have one in the picture. Who makes that pump? Thanks guys for the replies, I appreciate it. Galen

That is a reverse flow water pump. It will fit under the Jesel belt drive distributor with a little work. I made my own bracket and used a longer belt to make it fit. The motor plates that I make are designed to work with the special distributor bracket. (I have some of these parts for sale if you're interested as I've moved on to some different projects)

Here is another way to run a standard water pump with the Jesel belt drive distributor. Some guys don't want to run a reverse flow water pump so this is the setup for them. Others want a reverse flow water pump. I make kits for both applications.
