I want to swap my stock type drum brakes in the front of my ´66 Belvedere.
What is a good conversion kit for street use?
Someone told me the Wilwoold 4-piston calipers are crappy. Is that true?
What about all those other manufacturers like SSB, Bear and so on?

Any suggestion is welcome.

For street use with 15 inch wheels you can't beat the factory 11.75 setup. If you want better brakes than that then you'll need to go to a larger wheel. If you want lighter brakes than the factory 11.75 then there are some options to explore with aluminum calipers. For drag racing you can go really lightweight.

Contact Dr. Diff on here. Do a search, you'll find him. I went thru him for my 67 Coronet front disk kit. Excellent service and a great guy to get advice from. I'm planning to do business with him again fairly soon.

A friend did a conversion that turned out well. He used the stock knuckle like yours and with adapters from AR Engineering and stock 11.75 rotors, he fitted 1st gen VIPER aluminum calipers.

Speedway Motors has everything from the spindles to the rotors, dust shields!, calipers, EVERYTHING Mopar sourced for $519.00.

Didn't think it sounded too bad since it includes everything.

Thank you very much for the support.
It seems the best thing to do is to use the stock disc brake system.

That kit is really popular. AR011 is the part number and Mancini Racing usually has them in stock.

I know I'm going to get crap for this but I just installed a "Right Stuff" rear disc kit from Jegs on the rears of a 55 chevy for $299.99 for a customer of mine.It really was a nice kit, tech support, and directions were great. It had all the parts needed and was well put together....
