I have a Mopar Performance purple shaft cam .533 lift 272@.050 duration. I know little about this cam. Idle? RPM range? How Much compression does it want?

i've used every cam the mothership makes with great success (yes! do not try to dissuade me!), except that one. i am VERY curious about that cam. huge duration and not much lift- sure would be easy on the valvetrain in an endurance application.
for what is the good life if not doing things thoughtfully?

As best I can tell Mopar originally set it up to be a close competitor with the older Comp Cams drag hydraulic, the one with .540 lift and around 265 @ .050. The two cams are close enough to where they probably run about the same.
It's never been a big seller and because of that it was discontinued recently.
I've never used it personally and can't vouch for how it works.....but have talked to a few who loved the cam and seemed to be bummed out it was discontinued. One guy said he loved it in his 4.88 geared 383 4 speed car....

I used one for years 4000 to 6200 with iron heads. I had a 4000 stall that flashed 4200 I would degree it in at 102 on a 413 and have at least a 4000 stall 4500 to 5000 may be better for drag racing ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/Twocents.gif) Makes good power real good

I went from a 509 to it and it was not that much different but I like 1150 in gear and the 4000 stall. mech advance only 38 all in by 1250 defently put it in at 102 (even 100 0r 101)
I installed it 2 degrees advanced I guess that would put it at 102?

2 degrees advanced would be 106 on that one (108 lsa).

Not exactly a 533 is built to come out at 106 straight up. so in theory 2 advance is talked about from there so 104.
