Before it was Pecan Park and Jax it was Gator dragway. Not exactly sure on the dates. Still looking for any info on my car that used to run there in the `70's and/or `80's, called "JUNKYARD DOG". Here are some names, let me know if any are familiar. Edgar Texton, Leon Pringle, Don Robertson, Toni Fernandes, Tom Vanbeek, Roger Godbee and Larry Browning.
`68 Road Runner "JUNKYARD DOG"
`70 A66 FK5 Challenger, Rough project.
`68 Coronet R/T Black & white 4 speed.
`97 Dodge 1500 4X4, 228,000 miles and going strong!

well I am in that group but the name is spelled wrong I have told you what I remember . soory I couldn't remember more.Roger and Larry owned the track, Don ran the track and is now running gainesville raceway for the nhra. Leon Pringle was my uncle and drove the hemi powered C/SA white lighntin dodge. the track changed a few times over the years. it was once a 1/4 mile running in the oppisite direction it ended up with. probably not the best track around but we had a lot of fun there and I had many wins Tom is still around and runs at douglas, Ga . I seen him a few weeks ago. he has 3 generations racing.

Myron/Locomotion Hooked me up with an email address of a guy named Ben Shelton who used to work there. Ben actually said that he thought you had driven the "JUNKYARD DOG". He was also the one that gave me that list of names. He seems to think Don would be the one to get in touch with but I haven't gotten his contact info yet. I'm actually working on that car right now!. Also just watched a couple of youtube vids from the `90's, from there. Keep the info coming and thanks again. I would actually pay for some old photos of the Dog!.

That AMX was there until about 3 years ago.I wish I had went to see what the story was with it,but I never did.
That car was on Merrill Rd,which is close to University Blvd.

No I never saw it run.I used to see it sitting on a open trailer on the side of the owners house.I'll bet the city probably made him do something with it.I was going to see what was up,but I was sure I'd get a "I'm gonna fix it up and race it again someday" deals.

Was the AMX a door car or a Funny? Ray Pinto from Cocoa ran a AMX funny with a AMC motor till he put the motor in a dragster. Same car?
Other names to try, Glen Warfel, Stan Mizel Sr and/or Jr, Mark Hedrick, Billy Crews (RIP) son Marcus. All are in the Jax area and ran Mopars about that time period.
Glen is still around and selling parts, he drove the Scat Pack dodge. he lives only a few miles from me. I worked for Stan Sr. for years at performance engineering and know Stan Jr very well.Mark moved down south I think. Billy passed away and was a good friend of mine I raced with him for years. I seen Marcus just a few weeks ago racing.
