If it"s a later 2000 and has the 2.7 liter engine pull the dipstick and see what the oil looks like..Also take the oil fill cap off and see what you can see...The 2.7 has a history of sludging up the internals and dieing a premature death...If it's ugly in there I'd think twice about buying it...There's a bunch of chryslers around here with the grenaded 2.7s that the owners don't want to deal with..

If its got a 2.7 run away from it. I bought one from a friend who took care of it like a baby. I had it a week and it seized up. No sludge at all in it with 90,000 miles.
They have a rubber gasket inside the timing cover that sometimes breaks off/rots and falls into the pan and you lose oil pressure. Engine becomes toast...
I pulled the pan and found remnants of a broken rubber o-ring in my pan. I forget where it went, but once it comes out, you lose oil pressure.

The 1996-2000 Chrysler Sebring coupe and convertible have the 2.5L Mitsubishi V6. This engine was also in the 1995-2000 Dodge Stratus and Chrysler Cirrus sedans. I don't know a lot about the 2.5L V6s, but I do know the 4 speed automatics can be troublesome.

The 2001-up Chrysler Sebring sedan/convertible and Dodge Stratus sedan have the 2.7L V6. The 2.7 had sludging problems up until 2002-2003, and was apparently fixed.

IMO, I wouldn't buy one. Just my two cents...
