Look at the arm on the vacuum advance and see what the stamped number is.
There is an "8" stamped on the vacuum advance arm. Do you know which distributors got which can?

At least it is a 70-71 BB distributor.
If you decide to remove the shaft, look on the bottom plate for a stamped number. There will also be a letter stamped on the top plate, but I don't know if it is relevant.
Funny enough, I also have a dual point distributor missing the tag that I bought as a '70 440 6bbl part. It wasn't as nice as the one above, so I completely disassembled it, cleaned it up, glassbeaded and painted the housing, etc. I just checked the vacuum advance arm and it is stamped 11 and the wire lead is the long 6bbl type, so I guess it is a real V-code distributor. Snoopy, what will be stamped under the advance mechanism if it is a 6bbl distributor? I already assembled mine, but I will pull it back apart to find out ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif)

I don't know, I only have a manual 70 Hemi shaft on hand for reference.

Thanks for posting the chart, that is interesting. It looks like the only way to tell the difference between an auto and manual trans distributor would be to take it apart and see what is stamped on the plate attached to the shaft.
The only problem with that being is the numbers are Prestolite numbers not Chrysler.
