OK, I'm getting ready to start the restoration on a real 1970 Hemi Cuda. It's definitely real. All tags and body numbers match. It has all titles back to the original owner, build sheet, GTS paperwork, matching original engine, etc. It DOES NOT have a second fender tag that says "HEMI FENDER". What cars are supposed to have the second tag and which ones are not? The build sheet has "Special Handling" stamped on it. Should it have that tag?

The early 70 model year E-bodies did not have the tag, later yes. So it depends on your SPD. I believe the HEMI FENDER tag began in January, but someone will chime in with exact time. Have fun doing the car. Tom

Yes the early ones were modified by hand. They look much different.I'm sure someone will post a picture of the "Hemi fender".Later ones were stamped with the cut out for the tire.I don't think they modified the lip mouldings like we did.I guess they figured in the problem arose it would just tear the moulding off.We only had one crew of two people doing them at first then they hired two more guys who were fired after 3 weeks for messing so many up.
Leave the gun.......take the Cannoli's....Mike

Interesting.
I bought a pair of NOS 71 gilled fenders in 87'. One has the lip turned in (DS) like what's pictured above and the other (PS) didn't have it.

Here is an early production fender, will post the OE wheel lip molding later (they were a hack a$$ bandsaw job).
Don't think I care for that comment.I worked at Creative and did most of the driver side fenders. Most turned out very nice considering how they decided to do them.I think we did them all until Feb or so when the "Hemi fender" was ready.BTW they all had the wheel lip mouldings. One more piece of info is that all the Challengers had the mouldings removed and should not be on a Challenger.I see lots of restored cars with them.Wrong.Built with them yes, delivered without them.
Mike did not mean to offend, I apologize for the ignorant statement. Below is the original removed from my hemicuda. Was never off the fender since the car was built in October 1969, hence the overspray. Also the original FE5 was still nice and shiny under the W/O molding. BTW maybe you did the drivers side fender I have pictured, looks like a set of pinch pliers were used originally?

My first time posting, so if I'm doing something wrong let me know.
My question is about wheel lip moldings on Hemicudas. I have a survivor April-70 car that never had them, and they weren't coded on the sheet (M26). I am working on a Feb-70 car that also doesn't have them coded, but the car does have them (although they may have been user-added, its possible on this car). So my question is, if the car should have them wouldn't they be coded? And if not coded then what would determine if they were supposed to be installed or not? If anyone has a sheet of a Hemicuda that has these can they check if this was coded.
I have heard these moldings were part of the 'Cuda package. But my guess is that, if these were 'standard' from the get-go, by midyear 70 these were deleted from Hemicudas, and that continued through '71. This deletion may have been synchronized with the Hemi Fenders, but my Feb-2 car doesn't seem to have ever had a 'Hemi Fender' tag, only the one.
Along these lines, any info about '71 Hemicudas and wheel lip moldings? Did any cars get these, and if so how did these get ordered/installed, and if installed were they coded on the sheet?
Thanks!
