Is there a difference in the trunk lid from a 1970 Duster and one from a 1973 Duster????? Is it the center rib in it or is it a slight difference in width and lenght too????Any help is much appreciated.......Thanks.....

The center rib is the only difference. The early ones did not have the rib, these deck lids are prone to kinking. Ive not scene one kink, but I that was the design flaw. So thats why the later ones had the rib in the middle. Hope thats of some help. Plus I dont think the later ones were wing equipped either. So they dont ever have the cut outs underneath. See ya, Ken

70-76 Duster, 71-72 Demon and 73-76 Dart Sport trunk lids are interchangeable. As said the reenforcing rib is the only difference from the 70 lid. Some very early 71 Dusters supposedly got the rib-less lid also.

the 71 duster I owned in the mid 80's did not have the center rib. I had no kink in mine either, I always thought it was just a styling change.

The rib was installed because people would slam the trunk and the rounded rear edge would cave in where their hand was located. The rib strengthened that area.

Thanks to all that replied to my question on the trunk lid for my 70 Duster.I just started to dismantle it for it,s restoration and I noticed someone put a trunk lid from a 73 Duster on the car.I would prefer to have one from a 70 Duster on it.Also, the torsion rods are missing that hold it up in the open position. I will see if I can find one from a 70 Duster, plus the torsion rods. Thanks again,Jeff..
