My dad and I have a 69 Cuda 340 with stock suspension. Ran low 13s with factory stall and street tires, but it had to be tuned to bog so it wouldn't blow the tires away on the launch. With the new 10" converter I just bought, it has no chance of hooking. I have a small bolt pattern, so I'm just going to buy some small bolt rallyes from summit unless i can find a better deal. So...how big of a wheel/tire can I fit on the rear of my stock Cuda. I would really like a 275/50 on a 15x8. I've ran the numbers and the height is perfect as it's the same as I have now...just not sure if the width will work. Will that fit on my stock Cuda? If not, what is the max wheel/tire that WILL fit? These will be for the track only, not cruising. So I will not be cornering.

Thanks

Centerline makes the Auto Drag rims (have to order them and wait for them to make them) in 8.5 wide with a both the 3 1/8 and 4.7/8 offsets in the 4 inch bolt pattern

My brothers 69 Cuda has Cal tracs and split mono leafs in the stock location and the body and wheel tubs are completely stock. We are running a 15X8 inch Weld Wheel with a 275/60-15 Mickey Thompson Street Drag Radial and it hooks great and goes 1.40 on a good track and 1.45 on a so so track. I cant remember the offset on the wheel however. I think a 4 1/2 offset. I will find out for you. It fits perfect and never rubs. We actually used to have SuperStock Springs and they never conflicted with the tires either.

Thanks. I would really like to stay away from Centerline or anything that looks too aftermarket unless I absolutely have to. If I know for sure what backspacing I need to make the whole setup work, then I can go from there...as long as it fits.

the largest tire possible will just fit- any larger and you could conceivably have interference issues.

for what is the good life if not doing things thoughtfully?

I have heard that.
I had the 7/8" offset kit in an early A body with 265 / 60 15's and had room for a sandwich on each side of the tire.
4 1/2 back space.

The rallyes in Summit are 15x8 with a 4.625 backspace. Will those fit along with a 275/50-15 on my 69 Cuda? Kind of looking for a straight yes or no before I swipe the card...

Do you have long wheel studs now? If so you could always add a 1/8 spacer to help center the wheels if they're to close to the inside If no long wheel studs maybe now is the time to add them How much are the steel wheels and how much do they weigh?Lighter is always better Easier to accelerate and to stop

Rallye costs $108 per wheel and ship tomorrow. Custom 5x4 15" steel wheels are 125 with no paint. I have rallyes on it now, so they would match the front. Weight is not listed.

Never having had that combination will prevent a lot of us from giving a definitive yes or no.
I will commit to " it works on paper '
You may need a 1/4" spacer , but they should stuff in there O.K.

Lets see if Sloan gets back with you on his brothers set up, looks like his car sets higher in the rear than yours.
