I’m in the process of converting my duster to front coil over. Pricing shock absorbers is crazy. Single adjustable’s range anywhere from $100 to $700. The two I’m probably looking at the hardest are the AFCO and the Strange. The AFCO’s are $209, the Strange’s are only $159.

Anyone have experience with either? Any reason not to save the $100 on a pair of Strange’s?

Thanks!
Scott

When I converted mine over 3 years ago, I put strange coil overs on mine. 350# spring. Are you doing a home conversion? I did on mine. Good luck with the conversion.

Agreed 100% I would rate afco and strange very close to the same (the afcos are a bit nicer but the stranges have a lil better price) and have to say that santhoffs are dang near the best out

Yeah I'm doing the conversion myself. The cage is already tied into the shock tower, so I just need to make a few tabs for the upper mount...

Here's a pic of the frame, shouldn't be too hard to make the upper mount.

As I understand it, I need to cut the lower control arm stop bracket off of the frame right?

Looks like it would hit the shock if I didn't...

One bonus to the afco's that i don't believe (don't quote me) the others have is the ability to bolt in the stock location (the hole where the original shock was) instead of having the eyelet adapter. The afcos will give you another inch of travel over the others, which is great for a stock suspension car

I didn't have to cut the bracket off when I did mine. I just put a didn't stopper on.

i was actually looking at this picture, but I think the bracket was cut off because of the stock control arm. With the tubular arm, I'm hoping to get it further outward...

Ya, I am running tubular upper's. Also I have mine bolted in the stock location. I just made an adaptor to bolt in the stock hole.

Ok, I should be fine then. Does your still use the stock lower control arm stopper?

Thanks for sharing the info.

Yep. I just used some fender shims to shim it up alittle. No problem. Have you drilled and tapped your pivot arms yet?

No not yet. I know it needs to be done, I just haven't made it that far yet. The upper shock mount is holding up the body guy, so I need to knock that out first. Then I can work on the suspension while he's doing the body...
