can someone give me a idea of how much it cost to have a block line bored. i want to by some 440 source main caps and im tryin to put together a quote for a 500 inch build. i may not need to have them line bored maybe just honed but i want to overestimate the work so i will be ready for the most.

I would suggest calling your local machine shop for the going rate in your area. sonic test and check for cracks also. we ran a cracked block in the gtx cuz this wasn't done we were lucky to get a season out of it but what a waste of time and $$ not having it checked thoroughly before committing to that block.

Any time you replace main caps the block should be Line Bored

And to fit, align bore, and hone new caps should be around $400.

Since you are getting new caps, might as well put in studs instead of the bolts. Just my .02 worth

Yeah... There's usually a charge to fit the caps and then the line bore/hone. Altogether it's about $390 for me.

Well, art is art, isn't it? Still, on the other hand, water is water! And east is east and west is west and if you take cranberries and stew them like applesauce they taste much more like prunes than rhubarb does. Now, uh... Now you tell me what you know.

We also offer fully machined engine blocks (in stock and ready to ship) with both the billet steel or aluminum caps already installed with ARP studs and ready to go. See them on our web store.

I think it cost me about $400 to fit aluminum main caps to my 'B' block.
