Hello, I am working on fitting the Mopar pro race w2 cylinder head (designed for 48 degree tappet angle) to fit my factory 360 59 degree block.

Why? Because I got a really good deal on the heads and also when I called Chrysler they mentioned that Jim Szilagyi said it could be done.

To fit the heads I am grinding the outsides of the intake runners for pushrod clearance. I've noticed that it's quite doable, but is limiting the amount of valve lift and amount of material I can remove from the inside of the port.

What I would like to do is retrofit a solid offset roller lifter to improve my pushrod geometry, allow more lift and allow me to remove a bunch of pushrod bulge on the inside of the port.

Iv'e read on the Shady Dell web page that you can fit 48 degree heads to 59 degree blocks by using cranes .903 offset roller lifters for a BB chevy and having crane install mopar link bars on them. But when I called them they said they werent doing that anymore!

So does anyone have a recipie to do this? I've searched high and low and even tried comp cams 892-L/R solid offset rollers but they dont fit on the factory block.

I realize there is always more than one way to skin a cat. I suppose I can drop 3 grand on a 48 degree block but that would take me another 4 years to save that kind of money ! Plus part of the fun of hot rodding to me is trying to save a little money using a little brain power.

Any Ideas/ Part #s? Thanks

I think you should just run the regular lifters and live with a slightly smaller port, it will not be a problem because you can make plenty of power to destroy the stock block as is.

Thanks for the advice hotrod dave. I used to live in uptown Butte from 2003-2006. I had to move because of work. I kind of miss the Ice fishing around Holter Dam and canyon ferry (outside of helena). But anywho....

For my build I am planing on turning my 360 into a 408 with a forged crank, H beam rods, 4 bolt mains, , adding an oil cooler, and partialy filling the block!

Based on my research, moving away from flat tappets to a roller setup makes it that much easier to push the limits up into that 600 hp range.

Isnt 600 HP more exciting than 400?

And based on what ive read I think that this type of setup can survive in the 550-600 range! What u think?

You should have no problem makeing 600 with what you have and that is about 50-100 more than the best prepped stock block should reasonably be pushed to.

Stock production mopar 360 block and 4 bolt mains probably isn't the best idea.

An R or X block may be a different story

A girdle and block filler will help a little, 4 bolt mains weaken the main webs more than they help.

I still think you are crazy putting those heads in a serious effort onto a stock block

The money you will end up tossing around on this setup to make it work could be money saved towards a block that is meant for this. Remember, its less expensive to do it right the first time.
