The cost won't be too much different when you're talking wedge vs. hemi to feed 600 inches. Either way, you need a good cylinder head.
First thing that came to my mind was cost of cylinder heads... hemi's cost more, next is the rockers... I cant believe the cost of a good set of hemi rockers and hold downs, they alone cost half of my engine LOL, also its harder to make compression in a hemi(not as easy as a wedge)

The basic engine(long block) Hemi vs wedge the prices are similar. I have about $3800 or so in my Hemi heads, which is a SR type head that are also CNC ported with pacaloy springs and titanium retainers. The heads flowed 460CFM. What gets you in the wallet is the rockers as mentioned. I was patient, and lucky and landed a very nice setup for about $1600. Then you have Valve covers. The price would be close between the two, if your talking about top notch billet for the Wedge, and cast aluminum for the Hemi. If you shop around, spend money in the good places, you can build a 850-900 hp Hemi for under $20K...I did just this

3500.00 ? my having built a hemi motor or two over the years that's a waste of money unless your turning big RPM , using killer valve springs and have money to blow. even most bracket can do very well with stock rockers.
I agree 100%

There's nothing like a Hemi (when they run right), but be prepared to spend double the time and double the headache on engine assembly and setting up the valve train.

With a big cam and killer springs you're asking for problems with stock rockers... (been there) . I still say the best bang for your buck when it comes to rockers is Stage V. You will probably have $2300 - $2500.00 in Rockers, Stands and Shafts. We were running stock stands and shafts with Stage V rockers. We finally changed out the shafts last year because they were getting pretty worn. I think we paid $1300 - $1400.00 for the rockers alone 3 years ago, and they are a work of art! Eric at Stage V is a class act.
Some guys are running Indy Rockers, but I don't know much abou them.
The moral of the story is don't skimp with the valve train when it comes to a Hemi. BUT you don't need to buy a $3500.00 set of rockers either.

Which one of the Super stock engine builders stated that anything under 8500-8K there was no benefits or power to gain going with the T&Dor Jesel Rockers on the Hemi engines. I dont understand why the Stage V, Or Indy, Or the DLI stuff couldn't work with a solid roller cam and pressures. Here is a thread I started over a year ago about Hemi Rocker arms... good info in there.. https://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/show...&PHPSESSID=

Something to consider when planning rockers: the type that capture both shafts in a single stand need either angled machining to the bases or angled shims (and some very annoying math) to correct the geometry on only 1 valve. The individual stands can be re-set much more easily. Without naming anyone, I've had some very disappointing chats with fairly successful hemi owners about how the rockers work, and what goes wrong. It's apparently possible to have no clue and still go fast. Moral: don't listen to advice based on how fast the car is - it might be fast in spite of what he did to it.

Bob, things like this get said all the time. I usually find they were prefaced with something like, "on a budget bracket engine," (insert above quote here) and then followed up with "to justify the added expense" and the statement gets completely taken out of context and then spread around some other camp of racers
