Well...I recieved my new bolt in aluminum fuel tank a few days ago from Hot Rod City Garage. I've never heard about these before stumbling on them a month or so ago...and could find no feedback or anyone who had tried one but decided to take a chance since it wouldn't cost that much more than a new stock tank, a new pickup and a sump kit and I would still have to weld it in.

It was either:

Stock Canadian repo tank $220
1/2" pickup $135
Sump kit $65
Total: $420+ ?shipping

Or

Aluminum tank $350
Sender $25
add sump and all fittings where
I wanted them $25
Total:$400+$42 shipping

My initial thoughts when opening the box was it was nicely made...the Tig welds looked good and everything was located just how I requested it. Also looking into the tank it was fully baffled and the sump had several 1"+/- holes between it and the main tank to let fuel in but help keep it there on launch. Overall...it looks real nice for the money, and it bolted right in using the stock straps with zero hassel. I havn't put the filler tube in yet....so that part I have no opinion on yet. Here's some pics:

I've been waiting to see the results. That is a nice looking tank, and a decent price. I may go that route with my 71 barracuda when I start working on it. Glad to see you're satisfied. Jamey

The out side looks good, whats inside and is that a
2" filler tube on it to mount up to your 2" filler
and is that going to fit your existing area and mounts

Yep...the 2" tube is to mate up with the stock filler tube. I tried to take pics through the ports...but it was hard to do. It bolted up perfectly...(I havn't messed with tube yet)Here's a few more:

So is it the same capacity as a stock tank?

When I was making fuel tanks for Chrysler I use to
make a baffle or baffles with a extruded hole in the
baffle to give it strength..... but your set up looks
great

LOL... ....I like that it keeps my trunk free for out of town trips, suitcases and strollers and the like...plus I don't have to install sheetmetal to seperate the trunk from passenger compartment.

I'm going to go ahead and plumb in my new aeromotive pump and return style regulator too...

Are these the ones that are made or sold locally in So Cal? I spotted a guy selling them at the Long Beach or Pomona Swap meet and he came out to the last Fall Fling in the swap area. He said he made them. But you never know when people tell you that.

How'd you find out about him? I think he sells A-body and other body style aluminum tanks also. Does he have a website?

Here's the website...they make A body, and B-body tanks too...

http://www.hotrodcitygarage.com/indexA.html

I found out about them on a Moparts sponsers website:
http://www.jimkellemsmotorsports.com/

They mentioned that they are a dealer for them....but since I wanted to customize mine...I just ordered from the source to make sure it was done the way I wanted it.

I was considering doing this same thing with my Challenger but trying to figure out how to do it without the low mount rear facing sump somehow due to wheel standing issues. Not allowed to use sissy bars ( I mean wheelie bars) in our local Heads Ups series. I don't want to take all of this out or worse yet cause a fire or explosion.
