I intentionally forgot mine on my big block. 3 years and 4,000 miles later, no problems.

I would take-it-apart and put it on. Some here are saying that the rubber seal can handle the oil ...maybe so. But the OIL SLINGER's main-duty is to "sling" the oil UP onto the cam gear and chain.
If that be the case the cup would face toward the gear and chain not away from it to shield the front seal. There is a great plenty of splash and from other sources to adaquately lubricate the chain and sprockets. As it is it is cupped away form the chain and sprocket and toward the front seal to shiield excessive oil spray. Frt seal <] >chain and sprockets - with a smooth surface toward the chain and sprocket and no provision to provide additional splash, just a smooth surface. Notice how it is dished toward the fron cover and shielding the seal.

put it on the shelf for next go round ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif) and to add to what RapidRoberts suggested...get a stock oil cooler and install it.. it has a hollow fuel pump bolt that sprays the t-chain with full oil psi dumping back to the pan along with the drilled hole in the galley plug and a slinger it would be max oiling to t-chain ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/whistling.gif) that would make me sleep better at night knowing I have max oiling to t-chain ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shock.gif) just remeber to install it the correct way also ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh2.gif)
