I went and bought me a used race 727 today and opened it up when i got home. It was nothing about it that i wanted (stock servos, stock drums, stock clutches) but the vb looks to be something good. it apears to have a cast (not billet) machined bottom plate. Is it true that Griner is the only vb with this feature? I cant find any numbers or anything on it. It also looks as if someone welded on top of the vb. Is this ok/normal? Also the output shaft does not look like a stock piece, it is almost like gold colored, not the grey with black spots like the stocker. Any idea what this is? Also the frictionplates for the rear clutch is black in color with some metallic in it. Are there any black frictions or are they just burned?

I didnt mean that the steel plates are black. The friction meterial is black The steels look just like stock. BTW does the black on the kolene wear out at some point? Im gonna see if i can get some money back from the guy i bought it from so i can buy a billet front drum and billet servos and clutches and bands.

http://www.jegs.com/i/TCI/890/121900/10002/-1?parentProductId=746229The valvebody is either a TranzAct or TCI copy. May or may not be rear band apply in 1st, but looking at your low/rev drum, it looks like you don't have a clean release during the 1-2 shift or some abuse. The output shaft is stock; the aftermarket 300M steel shafts do not have a speedo gear provision. The kevlar low/rev band with grooves is normal. Depending upon line pressure, alot of builders prefer the solid backed kickdown band with red lining. The flex band anchors, which are spot welded, can break with high line pressure. John

The guy i bought it from said he new nothing about it so i guess i can only blame myself. It was a spare for his 800 horse cuda that comes from the US. Looks like the "spare" have been used quite alot. I know i dont wanna use it for my 800 horse Hemi. I should have bought a new tranny from John Cope like i planned to.
