How many of you guys drive on the street with "race only" wheels? I'm looking to sell my Weld Pro Stars and by a set of American Racing Pro TrakStar wheels for my 64 Dodge 330. The Dodge is mostly a drag car but I like to cruise around town on occasion. Will these wheels holdup?

I have been driving my Duster on the street(no more than 3000 miles total so far) for the last five years with no wheel troubles yet, the wheels are a set of Bodarts. They are fairly soft and do bend easy, which I found out the hard way by trying to force a racing slick bead on one with a three lb. dead blow hammer I miss the bead and hit the rim, it bent in easy and it was easy to straighten out also I have several friends who had some of the ultra lightweight Weld racing rims break the outer sealing beads on the front wheels, several different sets of them Hopefully all of them have been replaced or recalled

Same here.....if you run the 3 1/2" rims on the ft. it is definately advisable NOT to go too crazy in corners and autocross is definately out of the question.

My Super Tricks are probably the lightest wheels on the planet and have held up well

It's hit or miss, literally. I got lucky running 3.5" front rims on the street, but another friend of mine bent a set.

FWIW, I've since swtiched to 5" rims to add a little safety margin for just such a reason.

I actually fatigued a set of Weld 3-1/2 front runners on the 71 Charger R/T at 3800#. I noticed the tire quit holding air and found there was a hairline fracture in the wheel creating the leak.

But that was a 16 year old rim and the car saw a lot of street miles.

Non advisable. You can lose weight in many other ways.
I saw a set of Pro-Stars create a hair line crack on a friends car after crossing the Williamsburg bridge. Tire deflated in a few seconds when we stopped on the street to talk.
330 Post cars look better with 3-1/2 steel wheels any way.

I had two weld rod lites develop cracks and leak. This was on my mustang that I drove daily. Our roads are pretty crappy here as well which I am sure didn't help. JB weld will fix the leak enough to get by until a new one comes in .

i bean driving draglites on the street for ~8 years and 10,000 miles- no probs, but i don't corner too fast, and my fronts are wider than they need to be. they're 5" in front.

for what is the good life if not doing things thoughtfully?

I use to run SuperTricks on the steet...kept cracking the front ones from the valve stem out to a bolt hole.
I have 3 cracked front rims upstairs in my garage...
Still my Favorite looking rim of all time with that blue Cragar center cap...

YUP I run a 4" pro comp on the front and Piecrust slicks on the back. The only draw back is when its wet out there its like a skating rink.

I just got these in today...They were on Discount/closeout from SummitRacing...Greg Weld (RIP) they are heavy Duty SOB's..I bet they could be used for 4x4 rock crawlers. It almost seems the whole wheel is Billet aluminum. They are not as light as the Draglites....But seeing this car is going to be a wheel stander...Im a happy camper...
Best thing is they were $160 for both and that 10% off code, made these a steal for sure.

One thing I forgot to mention about the welds on my mustang. The rear ones were bent, I noticed that when putting it on the chassis dyno for the first time. I made a comment on this and a friend of mine said don't worry they all do that. Well, he was right! Three more cars that day with weld wheels had a slight wobble on the dyno. It wasn't bad enough to feel going down the road but it sure showed up on the rollers.
