Trying to search, but not finding.
What is the best, bang for the buck, radiator/fan combo for a 500hp(hopefully) 440ci B body?
I was reading about the HHR fans for A bodies and wanted to know what the B bodies were using.
The car is a '66 Coronet.
Thanks

I have a 16" pusher and added a 16" puller on the other side of a 24" rad with a moderately built 440 in my 66 Coronet. The first 16" puller was not quite enough in summer, but two is a little over kill. I can sit in 100+ summer traffic and it never gets over 185 now. I'm going to switch to a 195 thermostat someday...

I run a stock waterpump and fan belt and it works fine for my 500 hp 440 in my 63. I bought an aluminum Afco rad from Mancini and it runs about 180 all the time. I like this rad as it has brackets on it and all I did was line it up and drill holes in the brackets to bolt it in. But when I have to sit in traffic on real hot days it will creep up to 200 and I dont like that. So I bought an electric fan unit from my local speed shop and added as a pusher to help in traffic. I have it on a toggle switch and only turn it on when needed. It works great as it will keep the car at 185 siting in traffic. Ron

Thanks for the pics.
Is an HHR fan an option?

Unfortunately the seller is no longer registered on eBay. I don't know how much heat load a 2500 stall converter adds, which is what I have. I run my 727 cooler lines through the rad only, no external cooler. If I raced the car much I would add a trans temp gauge.

I've been real happy with my summit radiator. For the price, it's pretty unbeatable, and the 27" wide version core fits a 22" B-Body core support like a glove.

Mock up....
