I am not up to speed on C-Body brakes and my buddy is trying to come up with parts to get his 69 Fury back on the road. First let me say he can not afford to switch to disc brakes. He is having trouble finding correct drums for his spindles. My question is are there more than one spindle / drum / brake shoe combination? His is a 318 A/T convertible. Any help here will be appreciated. I will pass it on.

10in and 11 inch are diffrent, so make sure he has the wright one for it. Most times they can be had for nothing, just check with your durby guy. I believe 1969-72 should be the sme for 10in drums, but not sure of what year for 11in drums.

I'm pretty sure all C body drums are 11's but there are 11x2.5 and 11x2.75 drums. A 318 should have 11x2.5 brakes. Rockauto and napa show both as being available new.

Is there more than one spindle? I would assume that spindles would be different for the two widths.

Thanks for the help so far. I do not know why he is having so much trouble. Drum brakes are not rocket science. I am just not there to physically look at it.

That I'm not sure on. I'm pretty sure the spindle is the same but the backing plate is different between the two. Unless it's something crazy like trying to put drums on disc brake spindles he shouldn't have any trouble. How car savvy is your friend? I assume he has the rear bearing in the drum before he puts it on etc.?
