A4SixtyNineRR OP member Joined: Sep 2007 Posts: 90 Columbus, Ohio	Hey guys, does anyone know which color pie tin would be correct for a '69 Road Runner with the 383 air cleaner? One source said red for '68-69 and that orange was for '70+, but another said they used both colors in '69. Any info you could give would be great. Thanks!

It may be possible there was a change in 69 sometime, but I know they did have red in 69.

"I have done some research on this topic in the past, and what I found out is that the color changed mid year in 69. Early built cars had red, and later built cars had orange. Each plant had different amounts of inventory of the red tins that had to be used up before the switch to orange. So you could have either color on your 69 Road Runner. Use the color that makes you happy."

One of the '69s was an A/C car. All were St. Louis, except one'68 from the L.A. plant. IIRC, the latest SPD of my '69s was in April '69, and that may have been the Air Grabber car.
