did the 70 console doors have a smaller lighter duty hinge with a strap? 71's have heavier hinge with no strap? Does anyone remake straps?

My '70 has a black coated cable on the side facing the rear seat. Is that what you're referring to?

yes, that is what i'm referring to. I'm wondering if that was 70 only. There is also 2 different hinges. One is alot heavier gauge and little longer with a heavier spring, this i believe is the 70 version. The other type is much lighter and i belive 71 and on...

I've had a couple of consoles with that strap. I've had one or two 71+ styles, that I don't remember that strap on, but I wouldn't swear by it. I also kind of remember that hinge being a little lighter duty too, but I wouldn't swear by that either. Hopefully, someone who has access to some originals will step in for you. If you like, I can post a pic of what I have later.

Sorry, I do have an extra cable, but you'd have to buy a whole restored 70 console off me to get it.

Here are some pics. Hope this helps you.

Yup, they do have shoulders. No problem on the pics.

As if owning a 70 E-body with white interior, and pristine console wasn't enough, now he's gotta show off the vintage Led Zep 8-track cassette which leads me to believe he must also have an AM/8 Track Player meaning he's not just knowledgable about 70 E-body consoles he's obviously a showoff.

Sorry, I just don't think I can read his posts anymore as I find them demeaning.

My goodness, looking at the pic, the cable seems exceedlingly easy to make up. Good lord, I mean it isnt anything special. I mean is this a Carlisle concours car to be judged nationally?

hey great idea, if you make one exactly like the original i will give you $10, then you can start selling them because it seems nearly every console I have ever seen is missing this part...

Looks to me like a pair of ring tongue terminals crimped on a piece of 12 gauge MTW. But what do I know. I'm not an E-body guy.
