The spindle is the long pointy piece the pieces you need mount on to...BTW they're called Hubs, and the drums are swedged to them....Now call around your town and find someone who can swedge good luck. The 11"ers will work if you swap the backing plates and everything.

"BTW they're called Hubs" Thanks Hemirick I thought if I ordered new front drums that they would come with a hub also! I called them back and this is the only way they sell them. Have to find the hub somewhere else. "Explain "worn out". The bearings, races and studs can all be replaced" I already have new bearings and races! Stumpy, the bearings were making a noise and we determined that the seats of the hubs were worn too much. Thats why I ordered new drums figuring that I would only have to replace the bearings and races. Thanks Mike "The 11"ers will work if you swap the backing plates and everything." Thanksfor the info Hemirick. The guy I know has the backing plates and everything to go with the 11 in. setup. Are you sure they will fit the spindles on the front? If so then That is the way I will probably go since he only wants $50 for the whole front setup. I called around and they want upwards of $150 for a used hub! Mike

If you mean one or more bearing races are loose in the hub, you can "fix" the problem by dinking the hub wall with a sharp punch several times before putting in the new race.

do the races fall out when you turn over the hubs ? if not then there is nothing wrong with them , drive out the old race and drive in the new using the proper tools .
as far as the lug nuts , cut them off and grind around the swaging till the drum comes off ,then you can get the old lugs out without damaging the hubs .
if the drums are thin on that 11" setup you're going to have to do this same thing anyway as the 11" won't have hubs either , if you can find them ...
does your car have 11" drums on the rear ? if not you're going to screw up your braking bias running 11" on the front and 10" on the rear

"do the races fall out when you turn over the hubs ? if not then there is nothing wrong with them , drive out the old race and drive in the new using the proper tools ." The races can be inserted and removed by hand.If you drive them in with the proper tool the come out easily! I think they are just plain worn too much and I prefer to replace them if possible. The 11. 0 inch. set up is complete with the hubs and backing plates with new races and bearings. Yes I still have 10.0 in. drums out back.I do not expect to have too much of a problem with too much braking up front. We have installed front disc set ups that are definitely more efficient than the rear drums without any problems but you just never know. If I have too much braking up front with the larger set up I will try and adjust the brakes to even out the set up or If that does not work I will install a proportioning valve in the front to knock it down some. Thanks MIke

Too bad you don't live closer, I probably have a set of 10s out behind the shop that would work fine.
Careful, your character's showing!
