What is the correct power steering belt size for a 69 charger with a 440, no a/c and a saginaw pump? I have non-a/c 440 pulleys on my 471 hemi. The power steering belt rubs against the water pump pulley under hard load. It is a gates 7440 which has a length of 44". I can't get a finger in between the belt and pulley. Should I try a shorter belt?

I had the same problem with my 67 440 with a TRW pump.. A shorter belt cured the problem BUT, the clearance is very close still...

Same thing on my '66 Satellite Hemi....and a freind of mine has a '66 Charger Hemi and the belt rubs periodically too. Never comes off or anything, just dulls up the fan pulley.
One of those HEMI things!!
