If I remember right, someone here on moparts was making a fiberglass version of the Challenger SE headliner in limited quantities. I always lose the contact info.
While you guys are searching, keep in mind that the barracuda gran coupe has a 2 inch shorter wheelbase and a different roof/rear window, so that won't work in a Challenger.
Tav
I forget the individual as well,...was going to make them if he had enough interest?.....I contacted him several times,...price IIRC was around $500 plus shipping,......I'm planning on tooling 2 molds this coming summer, 1 for the Challenger, 1 for the cuda,....Fiberglass construction, price is yet to be determined, as it'll be based on mat'l and labour,...I'm sure it'll be better than $500!,.....I have some nice original headboards to mold off of,....I plan on having them with no holes/cut outs for the overhead console, visors, etc,...but the areas will be visible in the finished peice should you decide to trim them out,....this is just incase you want a SE/GC headliner without the console
Mike
Does anyone think the console is worth making a mold of?,.....I have no intention of making the potmetal inserts or domelights,...If someone else has that in the works then a console would be an ideal addition,....as we all know that pressed fiberboard is absolutely horrible for attaching cloth and having it stay in place

Hi, If you can make it, I will buy it! I already have a nice consolette and am trying to find the headliner board for my '71 'Cuda project. I'm in Massachussetts, so let me know if you need a testing mule for this. Paul

Well, you'll definitely save a lot on shipping Paul,...as soon as the Global warming starts this summer, I'll be working on this project, as I have several E bodies I'd like to convert to the SE and GC headliners, and I feel a smooth fiberglass "backing board" is better suited for longevity in maintaining the appearance of a SE/GC headliner,....it will have the correct metal slotted recievers for the factory style clips to be used,........it was a project that I wanted to do last summer, but was sidelined due to an abundance of customers projects/orders......I'll list them on Moparts when they're ready, I only plan a small run of both Chall/Cuda

Mike,
That sounds good to me. You can count one Gran Coupe version as sold. I'll keep an eye out for that post.

You guys need to check on the shipping for those things first. I had a perfect headliner for an SE Challenger that I sold. The shipping was going to be very expensive and the buyer just did not want to pay that much. It would not ship UPS because of size. He had me to cut it right down the middle and ship it that way! He said he would glue it back together.
......Mark, an item as big as a headliner board, is the equivilent of shipping a fiberglass hood, you can expect it to be truck freight, it'll range from $100-$200 to ship depending on location within the US48

I may have a slight interest in one. I think I may be able to save the headliner that was in my car. But its nice to know there may be an option. As far as shipping, I am sure there are enough folks who hit the major shows that may be able to help out. I hit at least one major show and would have no problem bringing one back for a member here (provided they paid for it up front) and dropping it off on the way. That could help out alot on shipping.

If I remember the shipping was going to be in the $250 range and I had to charge something for a crate of some kind.
Most, shipping rates for non business customers are overpriced rates, I have a Commercial freight account, I shipped a steel Cuda hood crated and skidded to Wisconsin, was $130, and a 200 lb crate (transmission) to California just under $100

I'll need one for my car. and while I do have the original pressed fiberboard console...it's really no good anyway, and I'll probably end up using to to make a new one from.
unless someone is already re-making those parts by then.
I'm a long way from needing headliners though. I gotta get all my body work done first!
