Hello,

Just bought a new MP electronic distributor to replace the one that I think is bad in my 360. When I compare the two distributors, the rotor position on the new one is about 90 degrees off from where the old one is. This will obviously cause me to have to change the position of my oil pump drive gear. Seems strange. Has anyone else had this issue? Is it fine to just rotate the drive gear so that the rotor points to the #1 wire at TDC?

Thanks for the help!

Just install it and rewire the cap to match the way the distributor is installed. No need to mess with the pump drive.

yes. Might set the timing marks to where your initial setting is (BTDC #1 compression) and see if your phasing is OK w the reluctor vane lined up w the magnet & just moving away (CW) and and from where that phasing is under the dist cap #1 terminal the vac adv will move the rotor CCW from there. ie 11 degrees on the arm will move the rotor 11 degrees CCW around the circumference.

Yes I got the same

you can turn around/rotate wires at cap OR spind the oil shaft... that last is what I made to keep same stock look outside and same cap code

it's your choice
