This is the first time I have bought one or frankly ever seen one, it's stamped engine side but it would end up having the offset away from the transmission , is that correct ?

I will say make SURE the convertor holes line up with the convertor bolts. YES, they are assymetrical, but one of my holes on my B&M flexplate was out about 1/16th of an inch, and it was soooooo close but would NOT bolt up. I posted on the forum, got the usual "it only bolts up one way!" responses, but had many chime in their B&M flexplates also had just one hole out, by 1/16th to 1/8th of an inch....

It goes away from the tranny...

A trick I learned the hard way of lining converter bolts to flex plate is i sit my convertor snout down in my plastic oil drain pan hole and place flexplate on it and turn it around till all four holes line up and mark flex plate and converter where they line up and will always know where to put it no matter how often or not you remove tranny and verter or engine. And if you are aware of this still might help rookies who don`t.I am old but still a rookie at lots of things.I have round sfi b&m flexplate and it goes on one way.IHTH

Crazymoparguy - I see you have a MP flexplate with the SFI sticker on the wrong side of the plate. I just got one and mine is on the wrong side as well. The sticker is supposed to go on the engine side of the plate so a tech inspector can see if it is out of date without pulling the trany. My old B&M had it on the correct side.

Yes, put the flexplate on the crank so the side that says engine side is facing the engine.

I mark the converter and flexplate by bolting them together before I put them in the car. Then I spray paint one of the the converter lugs and the flexplate. This will make it very easy to reinstall the converter.

That's not my flexplate.
Not my picture!

I just STOLE IT off Google for a picture.... to show in the thread...

(BTW- flexplates with stickers on the wrong side should come with little flex mirrors to throw in your glovebox. It's easier than the tech guy trying to remove your tranny! )

Like I said, above and beyond indexing the holes for the convertor to line it up with the flexplate, beware the 8 bolt B&M flexplates, many had one hole slightly out of whack.

I'll have to check it and make sure it fits right now instead of waiting till later .

i did answer my question though , I went an doug out a stock one I have and saw that it indeed does offset toward the engine .

I'll keep my mouth shut because as soon as it's open then someone will check mine for the first time in 20+ years

If you are a class racer and get torn down they sometimes check them. If I am teching a car and there are a lot of questionable items on it I will crawl under and check for things like a driveshaft safety loop and even the sticker on the flexplate.

Does it matter ? I bought this because a stock one will not fit the convertor that is being used ...

Just checked it and it doesn't line up with more than one hole

I'm pretty sure we drilled the converter holes in my B&M flexplate 1/32" each to make the installation easier.

I just bought a brand new B&M plate through Mancini and checked everything before I bolted it up.

Fit perfectly.

MY problem was an eight bolt B&M flexplate with the larger diameter convertor bolts.....

I had it all together, transmission in, and kept fiddling and fiddling, thought my first bolts were too tight, maybe I didn't index it properly, etc etc....
A true pain in the rear.

How much are your holes out?
