Today I took the pan off my '69 RR just because the gasket was leaking. I found the oil to be clean and in good color but found small plastic white shavings at the bottom of the pan. The trans was not having any operational issues. Where are these shavings from and are they anything to be concerned about?

I bought one of the hard plastic gaskets with the small o-rings around the perimeter. However, no matter how hard I tried (with very careful pounding), I could not get the old stamped metal pan true and flat. I am sure it will leak again even with the new gasket. Anyone have a suggested source for a new straight pan?

i had same leak isuse,bought new pan from summit,can't remeber the name,but it had cooling tubes built into the bottom,added 2 qts extra,and a magnetic drain plug,i think it was around 100.00,drain plug ,never know why they didn't all have them,makes an unpleasant job,nice

Probably some one had a problem with a speedo gear.

I saw the aluminum pans in Summit but didn't really want to spend that much or lower my ground clearance by the additional 2 qts. Anyone still sell steel stamped pans or aluminum ones in stock capacity? Thanks!!

yes IIRC the new pans from a 96 1500 will fit

I bet that the improved pan gasket you got will work

just need to not over tighten the bolts and strip them out

just make sure your pan is not dimpled around the bolt hole and try it,IMO

my pan was beat and seald it right up,have had it off a few times and reused the same gasket

summet jegs hughes CRT local tranz shop dealer all should be able to get you one

the chrome holds heat and does not seal with out scuffing the pan rail

get a plane steel or alum

summit has some nice alum ones with or with out the logo

CRT are real nice alunyum
