Well my pick would have been an RPM performer intake especially with that mild cam???
otherwise looks good for a truck but going past 450 with that cam will be a push!!
Good Luck

I agree the cam is a bit small, hoping the heads make up for it. My hp guesses are based on a 428 ford I dynoed with this same cam but worse heads and intake. It made 430 hp. I figure the inches should make up for a bit and the better (IMO) bore to stroke ratio. Someday I may change the cam, most certainly will change the heads, but beggars can't be choosers and I was given the cam and I already had the heads with the valves.

I agree the one thing I would try to beg borrow or steal would be an RPM performer they work great to 6500 rpm

I'd want more lift for that duration, using 1.6 rockers if you're locked into that cam. I agree on using a dual-plane intake.

Brand spankin' new intake. Cheaper than the RPM and lower so I can use a spacer for better top end if necessary. Not that it's going to be an issue. I may regret it but I'm thinking of running the PRW 1.7 rockers. They're basically CAT rockers, but the set we have at work actually lived and so I'm going to give them a try. Probably end up regretting it.
Soggy on the bottom isn't necessarily a bad thing. This truck has always had an issue with breaking the tires loose when I least want it to so a little "sog" might be just what the doctor ordered.

If the pistons are .005 above the deck(440 stock stroke) and those 452 heads are 90.0 CC or so I would worry about pinging and detonation with the iron heads on pump gas I have dyno tested similar combinations with 9.5 to 1 or so comp ratio on premuim CA pump gas with the Torquer II versus a M1 single plain versus a Eddy Performer RPM on the same motor, same day, same carb and fuel, the Torquer II was the weakest on torque and HP all the way through the RPM range, 2500 RPM to 6000 RPM IHTHs

I am a little worried about detonation with the junk open chambers, but I'll deal with it until I can afford a set of Perf RPM heads, at which point I will have to pony up for some better gaskets in the .045-.050" thick range to keep the quench right. Though I'm tempted to leave it tight and see how it runs. Being a hyper piston and fairly tight piston to cylinder, I think .034" to .030" quench might work. Though I'll prolly chicken out and just run the thicker gaskets.
Were the manifolds all matched to the heads? This manifold is small in the runners and I'm expecting a happy medium between the RPM and something larger, like a victor or M1.

The torquer and RPM where not cut for that motor, both bolted on.The M1 was cut to fit that motor and fit very well, no intake port matching on any of them, they where all smaller ports on the intake side than the heads where. The RPM was sucking oil up thru the intake valley on the dyno a tiny bit, I ended up having the sides cut to make it fit. It is a pump gas street motor in a 1965 Plymouth Satelite whith air, power steering buckets seats console and all the other creature comforts, 3:55 gears and 275x60x15 rear tires. Most of its life will be below 3500 RPM and it is a bunch better at thsoe RPMs than the M1 single plane intake is

I'd try the 488 summit cam and an rpm intake if you can get ine.. But should run well as is.

Results are in. 485 hp @ 5400 and 507 tq @ 4400. Guess the ported heads were worth more than I thought. Pulls real nice to 6000.

Pump 91. I limited the timing to 38. It picked up ten hp from 36. Rear main was leaking so I pulled it off to fix. Had it back on but the sillycone wasn't set up so I pulled it back off the dyno and took it home. Hope it's fixed. Wish I'd had more time on the dyno, but it ran so good and it repeated within 1 hp with back to back pulls.
It's finally in the truck too. Not running yet, but hopefully soon.

With that small cam I`m thinking the cranking comp is going to be aproaching 200 psi and if that`s the case, I`d be amazed if it didn`t ping at 38 timing pushing a big truck.

Now put a bigger cam in there so you can make good use of the ported heads and the easy
6000 rpm range. Maybe 520 HP & 530 ft. lbs.
Just an after thought.

That`s my point.........my timing`s at 32 degs for best results on 91 pump. I know a dyno loads the motor but don`t think it the same as moving several thousand pounds down the street.

Yes the motor has more time to get hot spots. a 2200 stall will load the engine at 2200 where the dyno may have been at 4500??
Be interest to see how it does work out on the street!
