Does anyone have pics and measurements of all the brackets that are used to mount a slapstick. I am converting from column shift to floor and need to fab up the brackets. I found pics on the internet but I really need the dimensions to get this project underway. Thanks for any help you guys can give.

I am retrofitting an e body center console and slapstick shifter into a Duster. I need the measurements and pics from an E body. Attached is what the console looks like in the Duster

Awww come on guys I know someone has to have these measurements. If not does anyone have some decent pics of the shifter installed in a challenger or whatever so that I can get some ideas on how to fab this into my car....thanks

Sorry I don't have any pics for you. I did add the slapstik to my car, however didn't snap any pics of the process. Basically the floor's dimpled everywhere the brackets weld down. Are you just trying to make the brackets to hold the shifter mechanisim or the piece up front that holds the top part of the 'z-bar' looking piece of linkage?

I have to make all the brackets for the inside. I picked up some nice linkage and the shifter from a challenger but being an A body car I know the linkage is different and the dimples might be in a different location also. I need to rip out the interior and check things out I guess. The car is a column shift right now but I am more of a floor shift kinda guy. I need to replace the carpet anyways so I need to just tear into it. While I am in there I want to sound deaden it too...has anyone used lizard skin? would you recommend it or going with the dynamat stuff?

I understand. Basically you have one piece of metal going over the top of the z-bar that comes up through the floor. The piece of metal will have a hole in it (factory also had a bushing in there I think) for the shaft of the z-bar to ride in. Then the bottom of the z-bar was supported by that little bracket that bolts to the transmission. After you've got that, all you'll have to do is place the shifter mechanisim where you want it and fab up your own brackets to mount it. Then you may need to either adjust the linkage from underneath and/or shorted the shift rod that goes from the shifter mechanisim to the z-bar. If you have a welder it's really not that hard of a process. After that you can make a couple simple brackets to mount the console shell to.

Place your console where you want it and mark your carpet with chalk or something. You have to be careful when cutting carpet because of the way this console curves under itself at the bottom, you can end up cutting too much carpet for the small footprint of the bottom of the console to hide.
