Just curious....wondering what the officials required when you were given a blindfold test to get your racing license.

I practiced for it, but it was never given to me. My track's tech official signed off that it was done and I did not ask for that. I was fully prepared to take the test.

If they know you and you've owned the car for a while they probably won't bother with it. Got mine back in 2000 and I'd already owned the car since 87. I probably had over 3000 passes in the car by then. No blindfold test, 3 passes (mostly to make my wife happy) and my friends signed off after "watching" from their pits!

didn't do it either. But it is important for your safety to know where everything is. Things will become second nature after awhile and you will do things without really thinking about them.

thats funny someone asked me once what my shutdown procedure at the stripe was and I had to replay a run in my head to get the sequence right.

when/if I get back out I want to add a gopro camera to see eveything I do during a run (hopefully no screaming like a school girl).

I had to do one and I had raced the car for 6 years. Was easy though, with the car shut off, put the car in park, shut off ign, fuel, and etc. Unlatch the window net and get out. Pretty simple, especially if you've run the car some.

I had to do it when I went trough the Frank Hawley Super Comp class a couple of years ago. I had to do it after setting in the car for the first time for only a few minutes. Ran through everything in my head a couple of times waiting for my turn.

Isn't it hard to drive blindfolded...I would think hitting the tree would be the hardest part

I would say the hitting the tree would be the easiest, try judging the stripe or hitting the short turn off.

Judging the stripe, what does that mean. I just mash the pedal and run it out the back door. You mean we need to look at the other lane? Damn! As for the turn off it is easy, you ride the wall till there is no wall, just assume that is where the turnoff is Maybe I have been doing this all wrong, oh well better lucky than good
