Your paid admission WAS tech. 1st car in line in the right hand staging lane got the bye run. The "sand trap" was well used. Actually, Pevely was longer (2000 feet) than any of the nine other eighth-mile tracks in the area with the exception of Pacific (2300 feet). That's not to say we didn't see several cars on the other side of Herkie-Hornine Road but the shutdown wasn't overly short. The reason Pevely never ran after the '93 Junior event is because the flood washed out all the base gravel and the place was too wavy for even Juniors to run. The track flooded every year but the "Great Flood" had a massive current. Almost a dozen years ago, the SLKRA built a kart racing course in the shutdown area. Nothing could have ever been done with the track after '93, though.

Every time i make the long haul to sikeston i see it, and wish it was still open. Now i know why it is not. Im looking forward to a good year of racing at gateway. I just wish there was something a little closer to go to when their not racing.
